From March through May, the MPCC Foodbank was supplying food for over 100 families (between 300 - 500 people) in Newham every week. These numbers thankfully began to drop significantly from June through September. But beginning in October, we have once again begun to see a weekly increase in the number of families accessing the MPCC Foodbank.
As we are also a resource centre for the other six major Trussell Trust Foodbanks in Newham [and a few Foodbanks outside of Newham], we are still warehousing over 50 pallets of mostly tinned food—provided by an investment bank and sourced through Aldi’s [photos attached]. But NOT INCLUDED are some of the VERY BASIC FOOD ITEMS that almost every family needs who accesses the Foodbank.
THE ITEMS THAT ARE VERY MUCH NEEDED
- Rice in 1 kg or 2 kg bags
- Cooking oil in 1 ltr bottles
- Tinned meat, such as corned beef
- Tinned fish, such as tuna, mackerel, sardines
You can drop off any of these food items at Manor Park Christian Centre’s side hall on Tuesdays between 9:00 am - 12:00 noon OR between 12:30 - 12:50 pm on Sundays.
Alternatively, anyone can make a monetary donation through Give.net and designate it for the Foodbank: https://www.give.net/20123735
Thanks so much.
